Ford F-250 Engine Specifications

While horsepower enables you to crush any job on your to-do list, it’s just one factor in the grand scheme of performance. The engines that power the Ford F-250 offer plenty of other noteworthy attributes to be excited about.

Standard 6.2L SOHC Flex-Fuel V8 Engine

This standard engine, which is paired with a TorqShift® G 6-speed automatic transmission, delivers 430 lb-ft of torque at a lower RPM as well as a respectable fuel economy. Even when you move down to the midrange of the power band, you’ll still get quite a bit of torque.

With this engine under the hood of the F-250 and other necessary equipment, you’ll be able to tow up to a whopping 15,000 pounds of trailer weight. With a 5th-wheel towing configuration, you’ll be able to add an additional 800 pounds to that maximum towing capacity.

Available 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel

The F-250’s available 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine is one of the strongest engines ever built in its class. In fact, it delivers more than 1,000 lb-ft of torque as well as an insane 475 horsepower.

This power is made possible by its 36,000-psi fuel-injection system, which atomizes fuel up to eight times per stroke to maximize combustion. What this means for you is a herculean maximum towing capacity of 20,000 pounds when the vehicle is properly equipped.

Available 7.3L 2V DEVCT NA PFI V8 Engine

Last, but certainly not least, is the available 7.3L OHV PFI V8 engine, which offers commercial-grade durability for heavy hauling day after day. This engine is designed with a cast-iron block, pushrods, and a forged-steel crankshaft intended to optimize low-end torque.

Consequently, these specifications make it one of the most powerful V8 gas engines, with a whopping 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque when operating in peak conditions.
